Purpose
Black Rock Primary School believes that
students with disabilities and impairments should be given the
opportunity to be educated in a mainstream school environment where,
along with their peers, they can maximise their social and
educational development.
Guidelines
1.
Students involved in the Program for Students with
Disabilities and Impairments would be eligible for enrolment in a
specialised educational setting.
2.
When an enrolment inquiry regarding Students with
Disabilities and Impairments is made, parents will be asked to fill
in an Educational Needs Questionnaire and a Program Support Group
will be formed as per D.O.E. guidelines.
3.
The student's admission may need to be delayed until adequate
resources ensure that the school is able to meet the special
requirements of the student.
4.
Grade placements will be based on each child's particular
needs.
5.
All staff will be encouraged to attend in-services to enable
them to provide for students with disabilities and impairments.
Staff, including Integration Aides, working directly with these
students will receive specific support and advice from relevant
sources.
6.
All major decisions regarding these students will be made by
the ongoing Program Support Groups, which will meet regularly.
